National Program Initiatives

2010 - 2014

Every four years, the International President of Alpha Kappa Alpha is charged with implementing a program for all the chapters in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® to implement on a local level, throughout the United States, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Carribbean, Canada, Japan, Germany, Korea and on the continent of Africa.

Our theme for the next four (4) years is "Global Leadership through Timeless Service. The Program Initiatives developed by President, Carolyn House Stewart are as follows:

  1. Emerging Young Leaders (EYL)

  2. Health Initiatives

    1. Asthma Prevention and Management Training
    2. Enviromental Stewardship and Sustainability

  3. Global Poverty

  4. Economic Security

  5. Social Justice and Human Rights

  6. Internal Leadership Training for External Service

In addition to our National Program Initiatives, we've partnered with the following organizations to ensure our success in service to all mankind. They are:

  • American Diabetes
  • American Heart Association
  • American Kidney Fund
  • National Institutes of Health
  • Heifer International
  • American Cancer Society
